In every well-founded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcs-engineering.de\/en\/ev-high-voltage-training\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong data-start=\"598\" data-end=\"619\">(ev) high voltage training course<\/strong><\/a> training, the measurement of equipotential bonding is therefore a mandatory component &#8211; both <strong data-start=\"698\" data-end=\"730\">within HV (ev) components<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"740\" data-end=\"784\">between different high-voltage components<\/strong> of an electric vehicle. <\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"805\" data-end=\"830\">\ud83d\udd0d What is measured?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"832\" data-end=\"1182\">Specifically, it is about the electrical resistance between the <strong data-start=\"892\" data-end=\"916\">conductive housings<\/strong> of any two (ev) high voltage components. This so-called <strong data-start=\"989\" data-end=\"1022\">equipotential bonding resistance<\/strong> is measured using a <strong data-start=\"1033\" data-end=\"1050\">milliohmmeter<\/strong> based on the precise <strong data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1094\">four-wire measurement<\/strong> &#8211; not to be confused with the three-wire measurement for grounding resistance measurement. <\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1184\" data-end=\"1228\">\ud83d\udccf Legal requirements according to UN ECE R 100<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1230\" data-end=\"1426\">According to section 5.1 of <strong data-start=\"1253\" data-end=\"1269\"><a href=\"https:\/\/unece.org\/transport\/documents\/2022\/03\/standards\/regulation-no-100-rev3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UN ECE R 100<\/a><\/strong> the resistance between two exposed conductive parts must <strong data-start=\"1337\" data-end=\"1368\">not exceed 0.1 Ohm<\/strong>. This is a very strict regulation &#8211; with good reason. <\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1428\" data-end=\"1459\">\u26a0\ufe0f Safety in the event of a fault<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"1752\">The <strong data-start=\"1465\" data-end=\"1480\">HV on-board electrical system<\/strong> of modern electric vehicles is an <strong data-start=\"1515\" data-end=\"1536\">IT-like network<\/strong> in which HV+ and HV- are <strong data-start=\"1558\" data-end=\"1594\">galvanically<\/strong> isolated <strong data-start=\"1558\" data-end=\"1594\">from the vehicle ground<\/strong> and the operating equipment. This means that there is no dangerous current flow in the event of <strong data-start=\"1665\" data-end=\"1700\">a single short circuit<\/strong> (e.g. HV+ to earth). <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1754\" data-end=\"2121\">However, <strong data-start=\"1763\" data-end=\"1785\">high-voltage safety<\/strong> should also work reliably in the <strong data-start=\"1799\" data-end=\"1813\">worst-case scenario<\/strong>:<br data-start=\"1833\" data-end=\"1836\">If a <strong data-start=\"1857\" data-end=\"1882\">second short-circuit<\/strong> occurs (e.g. HV (ev) at another point), a <strong data-start=\"1937\" data-end=\"1957\">short-circuit current<\/strong> is generated that must flow via the equipotential bonding and <strong data-start=\"2009\" data-end=\"2041\">safely trigger<\/strong> the <strong data-start=\"2009\" data-end=\"2041\">HV fuse<\/strong>. Prerequisite: The equipotential bonding is functional and sufficiently resilient. <\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2123\" data-end=\"2191\">\ud83d\udee0\ufe0f Further task: Fault detection through insulation monitoring<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2193\" data-end=\"2532\">Functioning equipotential bonding is also a prerequisite for <strong data-start=\"2268\" data-end=\"2293\">the insulation monitor<\/strong> to be able to detect faults anywhere in the vehicle &#8211; even if insulation monitoring only takes place at one point. Equipotential bonding electrically connects all housings with each other &#8211; and therefore enables faults to be detected in good time. <\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"2534\" data-end=\"2537\">\n<h2 data-start=\"2539\" data-end=\"2553\">\ud83c\udf93 Conclusion:<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2554\" data-end=\"2848\"><strong data-start=\"2558\" data-end=\"2598\">Equipotential bonding in the high-voltage system<\/strong> is <strong data-start=\"2603\" data-end=\"2633\">more than just compliance with standards<\/strong> &#8211; it is an active protective measure on which the entire safety concept of an electric vehicle is based. No wonder that measuring equipotential bonding is a standard part of every high-quality (ev) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcs-engineering.de\/en\/ev-high-voltage-training\/\">high voltage training course<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Equipotential bonding thus fulfills central safety tasks in the (ev) high voltage vehicle and is therefore so important in <a
